The subject of the most recent 2014BloggerChallenge is music. It can be anything to do with music – if you play it, what you like to listen to, what it means to you etc. So I thought I’d use the opportunity to talk about my love of all things country music!
A lot of my friends think I’m a total geeky loser for loving country music, but I don’t care!
The artists dominating my Spotify account right now are:
- Kasey Musgraves
- Lindi Ortega
- Jason Isbell
- Lee Brice
- Maggie Rose
- Taylor Swift
- The Band Perry
- Carrie Underwood
- Erick Baker
Amongst many, many others.
There’s lots of things I love about country, but the main thing is that most of the songs have a real meaning behind them. They’re not just some fluffy pop song, banging on about artificial heartbreak or something else some marketing exec things is going to resonate with the desired audience.
There’s more of a message in country songs – they often tell a story, and the artists are can be like poets than singers.
Kasey Musgraves is by far my favourite, swifty followed by Lindi Ortega. Both have beautiful voices, great sounds and great lyrics to their songs.
And yes, I am a total fan of the TV show Nashville. I bloody love it! The Nashville soundtracks should really be in the above list, as they’re all such smashing songs and I listen to them all the time.
The ones thing that has enabled my love for country music is Spotify. It’s the best, best way to discover new music. The suggestions are always great, and the ability to find new artists that are similar to ones you already like is a great feature. There’s no commitment to buy an album – just listen to it and if you like it brilliant, if not you just move on to the next artist. Spotify is the best tenner I spend each month. I can’t rave about it enough.
So that’s my music music confession. I’m a country girl through and through. If anyone has a spare ticket going to Nashville let me know!
