Woohoo!! So I’ve got my new lens! I am SO pleased about this. I think it’s going to be the lens that stays on my camera 90% of the time now. I only got it on Friday evening, so haven’t had too much chance to play around with it yet (so no new photos to show yet), but playing around with it, it seems just perfect.
I decided to just crack on and buy it on Wednesday evening. I decided to buy it from a web shop called DigitalRev which is a social network and online store for photographers. They sell cameras and photography equipment a lot cheaper because they import it from Hong Kong. If there are any import charges or anything, they deal with those as part of the price. The price also includes all shipping.
It had over a thousand review on TrustPilot and ResellerRatings.com. So it seemed legit enough. I also paid with PayPal with I think might give some protection (??). But as I was telling a colleague about it, it did suddenly start to sound a bit dubious. You know when you’re saying something and even as the words are coming out of your mouth you’re thinking ‘oh no, what did I do?!”.
But they did send me a DHL number to track, so I logged on to see where it was, and it appeared that it had left Hong Kong already. It said that I would expect it around the 13th. I had set the delivery address as my husband’s work, as it’s easier to get stuff delivered there.
However… on Friday, my hubbie sent me a text saying that my lens had arrived. “What the fudge?!?!” I thought!! How on earth can something I ordered on Wednesday evening from Hong Kong arrive on Friday afternoon in the UK?? But it bloody did!! I can’t bleeding believe it! That’s faster than the delivery you’d get from the UK.
So I’d recommend DigitalRev to you all! Hopefully next week I’ll have some photos taken with it to show you!
