My sister got free tickets for the Ideal Home Show, so we decided to go to it this weekend (it runs from the 14th – 30th March in the Excel Centre in London).
I’d never done a big exhibition like this before (having only gone to really boring work ones!), so I was pretty excited to see what it is like.
My first impression was on how big it was! It was huge. Full of companies showcasing everything you could ever want for your home – from cool modern furniture and gadgets, to traditional style items, to carpets, showers and oven cleaner!
They literally had even built houses inside which you could wander round – seeing how they’d done it up, room by room.
They also had presenters giving talks on style and decor – here’s Laurence Llewelyn Bowen looking very much like Dave Grohl, doing a talk on ‘Finding your style’.
They had everything split into three sections – Interiors, Garden and Home Improvements. I wasn’t really planning on buying anything, but when I fell in love with this garden lounger. We’re having our garden done up in April and a pair of these and the little table would be perfect.
They were from a set called the ‘Victoria’. If that’s not a sign to buy, I don’t know what is?! I love them – they’re really wide, so perfect for afternoon naps in the sun. Or you can push them together to make one big bed. Or lay them flat so you can have them like a backless sofa (we have a walled garden, so we could put them up against the wall with extra cushions to make them like sofas for when we have parties and bbqs).
By about 3pm, we were starting to get a bit hungry and tired. So we headed round the corner to the Troubadour Cafe for a spot of lunch and some bubbles.
It was such nice weather (again – what’s that, three weekends in a row now!), so we were able to sit out in their lovely little walled garden.
We had such a good day. If you’ve never been before I’d recommend it. It’s a great day out.
So bring on my new garden, bring on my new loungers and BRING ON SUMMER! I can’t wait!
