Even though we’ve now been living in our house for over two years (where does the time go?!), we still haven’t decorated our bedroom. Awful I know.
When we first moved in, we painted the entire house from top to bottom within a month. We did everything, doors, woodwork, ceilings, walls. You name it – everything apart from our bedroom, got a fresh lick of paint.
There’s a few reasons why we left our bedroom out:
- No-one other than us really ever sees it, so we felt we could get away with not doing it straight away
- Once the rest of the house had been painted, we never wanted to see another paint brush for a long time, let alone use one
- The walls in our bedroom are in a really bad condition and ideally need replastering
- And finally, we just had no idea what we wanted to do to it
So this is how we’re in the current position, 24 months later, still in the same old crappy room. It’s not that bad really, just a bit old and boring. It’s got knackered old magnolia walls, built-in wardrobes which are huge and very handy, but have awful frosted mirrors on them, and a bordered up fireplace which is a real shame as I’m sure it would have been a lovely feature in the past.
We’re still at a bit of a loss as to what to do with the room, but I’ve slowly been collecting some ideas. We want a nice relaxing bedroom design, so I’ve focused on muted colours, soft fabrics and taking inspiration from light, airy looking rooms. Here’s what I’ve got so far:
I’ve had these images saved in a PPT file for sometime now (I know, how old school!), so I don’t have the original links for attribution – if you know the original source, please let me know and I’ll add it in.
So what do you think? Have you recently done up your bedroom? Any advice? And does anyone know of a easy way to get rid of frosting on mirrors, or am I just going to have to learn to live with it?
