I am a big, big fan of Santo Lounge. I can’t count how many times I’ve been there, so it’s really quite surprising that I’ve not featured it on my blog before!
Santo Lounge is one of the bar/restaurants in the ‘Lounge’ chain. They have loads dotted around all over the UK. All have a similar look and feel, and the same menu. I’ve been to both Santo Lounge and Trago Lounge in Southampton, both the ones in Bournemouth and one of the ones in Bristol. So you could say I’m a pretty loyal Lounge fan!
I just love the laid back, relaxed vibe to the place. It’s really chilled, there’s no rush to get in or out, and the food is always great (well actually I’ve recently been quite disappointed with the paninis – they’re a bit too scrimpy on the amount of filling). But other than that, I’ve not had a bad dish.
So Tom and I went there for lunch last week and I thought I’d snap a few pictures and take another little movie.
As you can see, I opted for tapas:
- Honey glazed shredded 5-spice pork
- Chicken and chorizo skewer with green and red pepper sofrito sauce
- Pan-fried halloumi, courgettes and peppers with rose harissa dressing
Along with a side salad and a bowl of bread (the bread came with the tapas).
Tom is in a real hot dog phase at the moment (see the one he had at 7Bone in Portswood, Southampton here), so he went for The Smokehouse – a pork frank topped with pulled pork in a hickory smoked BBQ sauce, strong cheddar, sour cream and chillies (although he asked for no sour cream as he’s a weirdo and hates the stuff!).
My tapas was delicious and I made quite a mess (which is perfectly acceptable when the food it this good)!
And here’s the movie I made whilst we were there:
Do you have a ‘Lounge’ near you? If you do I recommend you hot foot it there pronto! They’re also great in the evening – a fully stocked bar and lots of tea lights. Perfect.
