I’d like to introduce you to my new fruit bowl! I’ve been on the hunt for a nice fruit bowl for ages… and I honestly mean ages!! I’ve had an idea in my mind what I’ve wanted and just couldn’t find anything to match it. It had to be cream, ceramic and raised. A lot of cake stands looked very similar and I think would have been okay, but really for a fruit bowl you need it to be .. well, a bowl! A cake stand might be nice to store lemons and limes on or something, but a proper fruit bowl needs to be a bowl otherwise you’ll be getting apples and pears falling off and rolling all over the kitchen floor! And no-one likes a bruised pear do they!!
So after scouring local shabby chic shops in Southampton, Winchester and Chichester, I eventually turned to ye old trusty – eBay! As I said, it took a while to find a bowl that matched my shabby chic expectations, but I think this one really hits the nail on the head. And it’s Wedgwood too which is always nice.
It’s got lovely little ram heads on either sides, which also double up as handles/grips when carrying the bowl (not that I’m really going to be carrying it much!). It’s a good size too – holding about two bags of apple, and a load of other fruit and grapes quite well. Overall I’m really pleased with it. It was well worth the wait!
