December is such a blur of food, family, friends and good times. I love it, but I also love winding down and having a bit more of a quiet January.
Although January can be a bit depressing – you feel full and fat from all the Christmas food and drink, it’s cold and miserable, and you’ve got no money left to spend on anything fun! So I always try and plan some interesting things to occupy myself in January, so that it’s not too depressing.
So here’s what I’m looking forward to in January:
Getting back on the fitness wagon!
I know it’s such a cliche, but there’s no better time to jump start your fitness regime than in January. I’ve joined the same gym as two of my best buddies, so I’ll be going there on a regular basis with them. I’m going to start jogging again (which I was doing a lot of before it go so cold and dark outside) and start yoga classes again. I adore yoga and can’t wait to make it part of my life once more.
I’m also going to start eating more healthily as well as starting the 5:2 diet again. Not sure what this is? Well watch out, I’ll soon be doing a post on how I do this diet and the many benefits you can expect to get from it.
The Book of Mormon
I bought Tom and myself tickets to go and see this apparently hilarious theatre show for our first wedding anniversary last year (tickets = paper), and can’t wait to go and see this later on in the month. I think we’ll combine it with a lastminute.com secret London hotel and make a romantic weekend of it.
Nice Long Walks in the Country
I love going for a good walk. Lots of fresh air, good company, and ideally a nice pub at the end of it. There’s nothing better than going for a walk in the countryside in January. There’s something about the cold, fresh air that just feels so good. And of course, you can always come home and have a lovely cosy nap on the sofa afterwards!
Working on my Blog
I am really enjoying by blogging hobby, so I want to spend January making some more formal plans for it. I want to set some goals and figure out how I’ll achieve those.
So watch this space for a new and improved Shabby-Chic-Home in 2014!
So that’s it. What are you looking forward to in January? Have you joined a gym too? Let me know below.
