May is going to be a brilliant month. I’ve got lots planned but it’s not going to be as crazy and hectic as April was (where two hen do’s back to back almost finished me off! Oh to be 20 again…).
Oh yes!! I am SO excited for this! McBusted have already started their tour and everyone I know who has seen it already has raved about it. I was a big Busted fan back in the day and have grown to love McFly just as much. So this is going to be an awesome night!
Bank Holiday’s R Us
The month kicks off straight away with yet another bank holiday! Now I’m self employed so I bank holiday’s means a day off, but a loss of a day’s earnings. But being self employed it can sometimes be difficult to take time off because you’re accutely aware of just how much it’s costing you. So I quite like bank holiday’s as they almost force me to take a much needed break every now and again. May see’s two of these bad boys, and I for one, am not complaining.
A Week Off
Tom and I have booked the rest of the week off after the first bank holiday. We were thinking of going away on a last minute break somewhere in Europe, but the weather forecast isn’t actually that great. So we’ve decided to save our money and just take a week off, relax and spend some quality time together.
Finishing Our Garden
We’re just had our garden lawn re-turfed, so we’ll spend some time in May finishing off the other garden based jobs. This includes digging up all the old gravel that we have around the outside of the house, putting it into a big pile in the front garden and then replacing it with some brand new lovely stuff. Hard work I’m sure, but it’ll be worth it.
We’re also going to make a special ‘lounging’ area in the garden for my new sun loungers which I bought from the Ideal Home Show (read all about that here!). I have two of these loungers and a table, so we want to make a bit of a feature of that area, rather than just plonking them down anywhere. Something with a bit of a posh Italian villa/hotel vibe (not sure quite what I mean by that yet, but something like the below!). See my Pinterest board for the original sources of the below pictures and more ideas on what I’m after.
Decorating Our Master Bedroom
We’ll have been in our house for three whole years in August, and we’ve still not decorated our bedroom. How awful is that? So we’re having the walls and ceiling replastered in May and are thinking of a relaxing grey and white theme (post on some of my ideas to follow soon). We’ve bought a new silver nickle bed frame and a lovely white dresser, mirror stool and chest of drawers. So I can’t wait for that. I might splash out on some new luxury bed linen too! Don’t tell me I don’t know how to live!
Southampton Blogger Meetup
I’m really looking forward to meeting some local bloggers at my first ever blogger meetup in May. We’re heading off to a local bar one Saturday to chat all things blogging, beauty, fashion and whatever else comes up I guess! I’ll most likely do a post or two on that once it’s happened too.
So that’s my May in a nutshell. Hopefully the UK will start to see our summer creeping in too. It’ll be lovely to start getting some regular sunny and warm days. I want to start using my new sun loungers on a daily basis!
