Have you been watching Gogglebox? This is the one TV programme that all my friends and family are talking about. The general idea – of watching people watching TV sounds like it would be boring as hell, but it’s hilarious.
All the families, couples of friends picked to appear are all such great characters. Some of the things they come out with are laugh out loud funny. Other times they make exactly the same comments as we did when watching the same TV programme, which always makes for great “I said that!!” moments.
So who are my favourites?
Stephanie & Dominic, aka “The Posh Couple”
These two are brilliant. Always drinking (I’m slightly concerned about their levels of alcohol intake!), they come out with some brilliant quips. My favourite has got to me “Oh Carson, where are my arms?! I’ve lost my arms!”. Brilliantly funny.
Sandy & Sandra
We have a huge debate going on in my home at the moment. Does Sandra drink out of an old Pot Noodle that she’s made into a cup (my thoughts), or has she gone out and bought a cup that’s been made to look like a Pot Noodle cup (hubbie’s thoughts). Let me know what you think in the comments. Either way, these two are hilarious. They scoff their way through a mountain of takeaways, and randomly seem to have a whip in the livingroom!
Chris & Stephen
These two are fabulous. So quick-witted and smart with the comments. Their take on euthanasia had us in stitches… “Oh yeah, we’d book it on your credit card, have a nice little holiday, do a bit of shopping….”. Excellent!
June & Leon
Poor old Leon, always on a diet. But he seems to be doing pretty well on it. These two still seem very much in love. Leon’s resistance to talk about euthanasia with wife June because he’d miss her too much, almost made me cry. He seems like a right cheeky old man too – we saw the sly little grin on his face when watching all the ladies in Made In Chelsea!
The Michael Family
These guys are such a great family. Son Louis is such a typical teenager in the way that he screams out “Shhuuuuuttt-uuuuupppp!!!!!!” whenever his Mum (Carolyne) or Dad (Andrew) talk about sex or anything that he feels is stupid or ridiculous. They’re often joined by one or two of his three older siblings.
It’s narrated by Caroline Ahern and Craig Cash from the Royle Family. I love how they quite often slip in little tit-bits about the families “Dominic learned how to make cocktails on holiday to Mauritius….”, “Sandra’s been married three times….”.
So that’s my Gogglebox review. Have you watched it? You can probably catch it on On-Demand from C4. I would heartily recommend it!
